Spain- Las Fallas

During spring the people of Valencia, Spain shut down the city for a week. What once was a tradition to declutter and celebrate getting through the winter has become something much bigger. Neighborhoods come together to build elegant and enormous artistic structures, one being a "falla," multiple being "las fallas." These structures are usually political and satirical. It takes the neighborhoods all year to build and then they burn them after a week long celebration with processions showing off traditional clothing and on the day of the burning a huge party.
