Spain- Castellers, Holy Week, and Bulls

This is a combination of three different events in Spain, the first being a festival only found in Cataluña (Northeast Spain) called castells. During this, teams from villages will stack themselves to get as high as possible with an enormous human base. It was one of the most interesting and unique shared human experience of my life.

The next is the Holy Week of Easter in Granada (Southern Spain) to show contrast to the north where Las Fallas and Magdalena took place. This is far more formal and religious as opposed to the (at times) chaotic and informal ways of the northern festivals. Again there may be a likeness in the outfits to a certain part of American history but they have nothing to do with each other. This is another country's culture and tradition.

Finally was a small festival in a village that was traditionally a bull auction in which the farmer would showcase how strong and impressive their finest bulls were. Now they barricade a perimeter of the village and let the bull run around. I am not endorsing this festivity, and you may not agree with what is happening but this is another culture with different traditions that I am simply showing.
